Last October, the Standards Committe for BD-094 Slip Resistance of Flooring Surfaces met to discuss the proposed new Australian Standard for slip resistance.
While the framework will still use the two current testing methods, there are some technical changes being proposed.
We highlight some of the proposed changes below:
- Modification of the slider preparation in pendulum testing will likely reduce the classification significantly for smoother surfaces. This effectively increases the sensitivity of the results at the lower end of the spectrum where smooth surfaces achieving W or X may reduce to Class Y or Z.
- While BPN will still be used to describe individual measurements of speciments, new unit known as Slip Resistance Value (SRV) will be used to describe the mean result used for classification purposes.
- Classification system will be changed from Class V, W, X, Y, Z to P0 through to P5 to reduce confusion between new and old test certificates.
- The Oil Wet Ramp Test and Barefoot Ramp Test will be referred as the Inclining Platform Tests to avoid assumptions that the test is to assess the slip resistance of ramps.
This June 2011, Stoneworld is celebrating its twenty fourth anniversary. For 24 Years, Stoneworld has become one of Australia’s leading tiles and natural stones provider.
Twenty four years ago, Stoneworld started with a one man operation. Fast forward to now, we have offices and warehouses in three Eastern states and distribution channels across the rest of Australia.
With the growth, we believe Stoneworld has gained invaluable experience. Experiences that enable us to supply and service our esteemed customers with the best we can offer. Especially in uncertain and challenging times such as this.
Over the next few months, you will see new and exciting products being launched. We will also be revamping this newsletter and launching extra services that we hope will be useful to you.
Our insistence on providing the best quality and value has brought us here so far. We intend to keep our customers’ trust and do even better the next twenty four years and more.
Finally, we would like to take this opportunity to thank each and every customer who has supported us throughout these years. We are proud to be your number one choice for quality tiles.
We are growing!
Due to the expanding growth Stoneworld Victoria is experiencing, we are upgrading our warehouse layout.
As you can see from these photos it has been a nightmare of an operation with us basically working out of our car park for the last week.
We have just installed pallet racking throughout our main operational and dispatch warehouse. All bulk product will be stored in our second warehouse next door.
This racking in conjunction with our new pallet wrapping machine and computerized location system, will enable us to operate more efficiently and accurately. This also gives us the ability to stock and store twice as much product than ever before. With some exciting new products on the horizon this is great news.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank our customers for their patience over the last week whilst this restructuring has been taking place.
This 1 June 2009, we are celebrating our 22nd Anniversary.
We believe that to know where we are going forward, we need to know where we have been. So in that spirit, we would like to share a bit of our history with you, our partners.
BEGINNING
Salitrosa Holdings started operations in June 1986 in MooreBank, NSW as a one man operation, trading under the name of Salitrosa.
It then moved the operation to Castle Hill two years later with four staffs. From there, the company moved to Wetherill Park to allow expansion. The main focus of the company then was natural stone products, hence the trading name Stoneworld.
