RENOVATION

Why Consider Flooring First When Starting Your Reno

Every project starts with a dream, but it can be challenging to turn that dream into a reality.  Why?  Budget!  Sticking to a budget can be tricky when there are so many options available, but starting with a budget is the best move.  Outlay what you like, research the brands, information and source where you can find the best bang for your buck.

WHERE TO START?

So where do we begin with our renovation budget? It is generally a good idea to start with a floor tile if your renovation calls for it.  The flooring is a large part of your home, dominating the feel and tone of your surrounding areas. Getting the flooring right so everything else flows easily from here is important.

Kitchens and bathrooms can be modified to allow for your budget, carpets, paint etc can do the same, but spending time and effort choosing the flooring should be at the top of your priority list.  The last thing you want is to be on a tight budget and not be able to select the floor tile you absolutely love.

OTHER THINGS TO CONSIDER

Tile is just one factor to take into consideration while choosing your flooring. Your renovation budget may also be severely impacted by installation costs. Use only licensed tilers who have knowledge of the tiling material of your choice.

Tile is frequently used as flooring in wet areas like the kitchen and bathroom. In certain locations, waterproofing is essential and needs to be completed by a licenced waterproofer. Many tilers are capable of performing this work.
